The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Headquarters PFI project is a 32 year concession to finance, construct, operate and maintain a new four-storey office building with capacity for 1,500 employees for the Health and Safety Executive.
The project reached financial close in October 2003. Designed by Cartwright Pickard, supported by Buro Happold, the facility was built by Kajima Construction Europe (UK) Limited.
It is part of a long-term redevelopment effort supported by the local authorities. Capital expenditure for the project was £62 million.
The project became operational in December 2005. Hard FM (e.g. maintenance) services are provided by Honeywell Control Systems, whilst Soft FM services (e.g. security and cleaning) are provided by Norland.
