Finance, construct, operate and maintain hospital facilities for Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust

Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals is a hospital concession in West Yorkshire, providing modern healthcare facilities for Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The project comprises two hospital sites with a combined capacity of 774 beds.

The £311 million project reached financial close in June 2007 under a 35-year concession agreement. Construction of the new hospital facilities was undertaken by subsidiaries of Balfour Beatty plc and was completed in 2011. The facilities became operational in October 2011.

In August 2025, HICL sold a portion of its interest in Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals to APG as part of a broader portfolio transaction involving seven UK PPP assets. The transaction reflected HICL’s active approach to portfolio management and value realisation, while HICL retained an investment in the asset.
