Finance, construct, operate, and maintain workshops and offices for the Health and Safety Executive

The Health and Safety Laboratory project is a 32 year concession to finance, construct, operate, and maintain workshops and offices in Buxton and to dispose of old facilities in Sheffield, on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive.

This unique facility, located in 550 acres of the Peak District close to Buxton in Derbyshire, facilitates forensic investigations, cutting-edge research and the investigation of all incidents that are being examined by the Health and Safety Executive.

Financial close occurred in April 2002 and major works were completed in 2004. The £60 million building was constructed by Shepherd Construction.

Operations commenced in October 2004. FM activities are now the responsibility of Interserve, a UK-based services, maintenance and building group.
